Our Team
MAI family group, pronounced “my”, is exactly that. Meet MAI family; Moe, Aminah, & Isabelle.
I grew up in Cicero during the 1980’s, in poverty. We survived on government cheese when the food stamps ran out. I designed and decorated my first Home Concept at 13 years old. My extended family were builders and creators. They allowed me on site experience during summer breaks from school. Design and Creation came easily to me. I graduated high school with High Honors and several Awards of Excellence, but did not obtain a "college” degree.
After the birth of my youngest child, Isabelle, I left Chicago for Shanghai. Shortly after arriving there, I created and developed several different social networking groups for the expat community. After joining the American Expat Association of Shanghai, I was elected to be Chair of Special Events for the Expat Community. As Chair of Special Events, our team organized and executed events, including but not limited to: Black Tie Galas, Charitable Auctions and Luncheons.
Our goals were to promote American Values and Culture through the gift of giving, not only of our time, but essential resources needed. Those were often orphanages, filled with the unwanted girls of China. I was then elected as a Board Member and, shortly after, nominated for the Presidential seat of the American Expat Association of Shanghai. Unfortunately, I was forced to withdraw from the race due to my first cancer diagnosis.
Simultaneously, I earned a position as Lead Relocation Consultant for Crown World Mobility. Many of my clients were in leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies. I was often the clients first point of contact once they arrived. I assisted them in locating the most compatible neighborhoods, housing, and schooling for their children - ones that best fit the lifestyle they wanted to create abroad. As a Relocation Consultant, it was essential for the client to have all the tools necessary to be successful in their new roles within their companies and their life in Shanghai.
In Shanghai I was often a panelist for developmental projects throughout the city. I took great pride in contributing my American viewpoints, experiences and insights .
After spending time in Shanghai and sharing our American values, I returned to raising my children in Chicagoland. Despite two cancer diagnoses in a short period of time, my enthusiasm for life and creativity never ended. As we came together as a family to achieve our core goals, MAI, “My Family Group” was formed to elevate communities through our Commitment to Excellence.
I am currently a sophomore pursuing a degree in Neuroscience at the University of Michigan. With a strong passion for pursuing medicine, my goal is to bridge the gap between science and compassionate patient care. I aspire to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology, empowering women through every stage of reproductive health.
Beyond my studies, I thrive in collaborative environments, valuing both professional networking and social connections. In my free time, I enjoy maintaining an active lifestyle by working out often and trying new forms of fitness with my close friends. I love the moments I get to spend with my roommates and value having a balance between my professional, academic, and social endeavors.
Overall, I am driven by compassion, hard work, and a commitment to excellence to make an impact in the medical field and build strong professional connections along the way.
